"Consistency" defined is "The ability to replicate a process or activity with the same level or quality over and over again."

We all as human beings struggle to be consistent in terms of the exact definition of the word, but "consistency" truly is the key to success in any path you choose to take throughout your life.

On a daily basis I wake up before 5am and begin the day chipping away at aspects I can improve on with $Bmoney Beastin' as a whole. Some mornings it is editing typos through the website, creating new reels for our Instagram page, vendor management, or even adding printable MAT CLASH rules as a FREE digital download (as I did this morning). Being "consistent" in building your long-term vision will eventually lead you where you want to go. That doesn't mean that it will happen overnight, but without "consistency" it will not happen at all.

That leads us into wrestlers being "consistent" in improving. As a community of wrestlers, we know that wrestlers that only wrestle the season will not be able to keep up with wrestlers that "consistently" are in a room and improving. A couple of years ago I heard a kid tell his coach "I'll make varsity, I've wrestled for 3 years!" In reality, this wrestler has only wrestled the 6–8-week middle school season, so in reality he had only wrestled around a total of 6 months, at max. Do you think this wrestler can compete with the "consistent" wrestler that is in the wrestling room 2-3 days per week in the offseason? More than likely not.

We are in the heart of the summer and wrestlers from all over the country are competing at freestyle national duals and prepping for Fargo and kids' nationals. These wrestlers will be leaps and bounds above the competition when the folkstyle season begins in October-November. These wrestlers are "consistently" in the practice room honing their craft. Even the guys that aren't competing right now but are in the room 2-3 days a week are making jumps that their competition aren't making.

My suggestion is building a plan that fits into your life throughout the off season and strictly stick to it. Be "consistent". Even if you don't wrestle Freestyle/Greco and your club isn't training Folkstyle right now, go to practice! With the new 3-point takedown rule, Freestyle will improve your neutral positioning and really help you this winter! Enjoy your off season, but 6-8 hours a week in practice room is doable for nearly everyone! Show up "consistently" without hesitation. You'll be amazed the gains you make leading into next season.

In closing, rapper Ice Cube once said, “Don’t complain about what you didn’t get because of the work you didn’t put in” which is such an amazing quote for the true definition of "consistency". "Consistent" behavior in anything you do in life will bring you closer to your goal. If you're a writer, write more. If you're a runner, run more. If you're a musician, play more. Regardless of what it is you do, "consistently" improve on your skill set. It is like making deposits into a savings account. The first deposit may be ten bucks, but fast forward a few months and there's a couple hundred dollars there. Build that account that you can draw from later on a "consistent" basis, I guarantee you will improve not only in the skill you are pursuing, but also in every aspect of your life.
